Highway to Shell: Review

Fairway loved Frogger growing up. There’s something lovable about the idea of a frog trying to cross a road only to drown (?) in a river. Today, Fairway picks up what feels like the board game equivalent of Frogger, Highway to Shell, by Concrete Canoe Games.

With a young daughter and son, a game about fairies and goblins is always welcome in the Fairway household. It should come as no surprise then that Game-O-Gami’s Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule is a huge hit.  This week, Fairway picks the game up again and writes the review that should have been written years ago. 

Gadgeteers: Preview

Fairway puts on his work gloves and safety goggles in this Kickstarter preview of Gadgeteers. Gadgeeters is a two- to three-player, bidding and bluffing by Letiman Games. Underlings of Underwing: Preview

Fairway picks up another Kickstarter preview where he’s the master of colorful dragon hatching operation.  In the words of the famous They Might Be Giants: 🎶 Roy G. Biv is a colorful man 🎶 And he proudly stands at the rainbow’s end (So you’ll see him) So follow Fairway to the end of the rainbow as he previews Underlings of Underwing, a color-theory game coming to Kickstarter in August by The Pericles Group. Underlings is a two- to six-player set collection and worker placement game with an educational twist using dragons and dragon eggs.

Science Ninjas: Review

Science Ninjas: Valence is a chemistry-themed card game for 2-5 players.  Players draw elemental ninjas in a silent, but deadly, attempt to form powerful molecules. The molecules score points, gain bonuses, and can be used to destroy other players’ compounds. In this short review, Fairway takes a look at this Kickstarter-funded card game.

Tricks and Treats: Review

Hello hello! For our third week of October, I have chosen a wonderful bluffing/press-your-luck kind of game for the whole family, Tricks and Treats by Nazca Games. The story of this game is all the players have returned home from trick-o-treating, and are told by their parents to dump all the candy out and split it evenly amongst all our baskets. Our parents then attempted to secretly assign us all a specific basket, but we are tricky, and have figured out which basket is ours. However, if any of our opponents figure out which basket is ours and calls us out on it, we will lose the game AND ALL OUR CANDY!! SO! The goal of the game is to A) Survive long enough to make it to the end of the game, and B) Have the most candy in our basket. We begin the game by figuring out how…
