Train Heist: Review

Today, Fairway and his regulators mount up to right some wrongs by robbin’ some trains. That’s right, in Train Heist, the good guys rob the trains and the bad guys are trying to stop them.  So find out if Fairway and his crew are good at do-gooding, train robbing in this review of a Kickstarter delivery from Tower Guard Games. Train Heist was picked up recently by Cryptozoic. He’s included a bonus video of his kids “teaching” the game at the end. He thinks it’s hilarious.

Foodtown Throwdown: Review

“I’ll take your Gourmet Burger with a side of fries” “Do you want the Olive Salad on that? Or I can hold it or put it on the side.” “Um… yes?” “And you’re okay with croutons for a bun, right? I can substitute waffles if you’d like.” “Maybe?” “And I assume you’re good with the potato flake fries, right?” “You know what… never mind.” If you’ve ever been to one of those trendy food trucks, that conversation might not sound so strange. This week, Fairway picks up a Kickstarter delivery from Argyle Games, Foodtown Throwdown, that tries mightily to capture the majesty of those recipes. Find out what he’d say on Yelp about this food truck-themed, set-collection card game. Fairway’s Twitter and Instagram followers will recognize these “delicious” recipes.

Florenza – The Card Game: Review

It’s the Italian renaissance. Fairway is a master of a great house of Florence and commissioning great works of art and architecture and hiring great artists of the time. You guessed it, it’s not reality. It’s time for Fairway’s review of Florenza: The Card Game.

Roll Player: Review

Remember the fun of making your character in games like Skyrim? “Hey you, you’re finally awake; You were trying to cross the border right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush same as us, and that thief over there.” ~ Raloff, from Skyrim.  And then five and half minutes later, you finally get to pick your race! Grr… Well, forget loading times and movie sequences. Fairway’s skipping all that frustration and is going play Roll Player, a recent Kickstarter delivery from by Keith Matejka and Thunderworks Games, instead.

Pentaquark: Preview

If you haven’t read it, you should first pick up Brian Greene’s The Elegant Universe before you continue reading this review. I’d suggest the Kindle version so you can get it right now. I’ll wait. Done?  Cool, you’ll need it. Today, Fairway previews Pentaquark, a frustratingly fun solitaire game from designer Mike Mullins and part of Buttonshy’s ever-expanding wallet game series. In this preview, Fairway explores the smallest things in the known universe in search of the pentaquark. CERN, look out!  The Kickstarter launches this week!
